Research Interests and Laboratory Projects:
Primary endocrine cells often lose much of their in vivo phenotype when grown on typical culture surfaces. This is seen with adrenal and mammary primary cells. However these cells dramatically reorganize with respect to cell morphology and cell-cell interactions when attached to appropriate extra cellular matrix proteins. My research will be directed to understanding cell signaling mechanisms directed by laminin that enhance the expression of AhR, ARNT and cytochrome P4501B1 in mouse mammary epithelial cells. We will use the SCp2 ‘normal’ mouse mammary cell line and novel lines generated from temperature sensitive T antigen mice. We will also test whether similar laminin-initiated signals mouse gene expression changes in adrenal primary cells isolated from these mice.
