Research Interests: My research project focuses on the possible interaction between TXNIP and FoxO1 in pancreatic beta cells. I will be using FoxO1 siRNA and expression plasmids to determine how altering FoxO1 expression affects TXNIP levels in the rat insulinoma INS-l beta
cell line. These studies will include measurement of endogenous TXNIP mRNA levels by quantitative real-time RT -PCR and performing transient tranfection experiments and assessing the activity of the TXNIP promoter using luciferase reporter assays. Further studies may include chromatin immunoprecipitaton (ChIP) assays to look at FoxO1 binding to the TXNIP promoter.
